This
customer in the South End of Boston wanted a desk with a fold-up
top to save space, and a little rolling file drawer unit that he
could move around on casters. He couldn't afford real mahogany,
so we were able to save him some money by using birch veneer plywood
with a mahogany stain. |
The designer, Gustav Stickley designed many cabinets like this
one in the Arts and Crafts and Mission styles of the 30's. Since
this house contained many Arts and Crafts details, we designed
a Stickley knock-off in white oak. The tall cabinet in the corner
solved a design flaw built into the room, because the fireplace
was originally built off center in the alcove. |

This is a set of cabinets we built for a client in
Warwick, RI. We started with a large existing cabinet and tried
to match the veneer. It had been manufactured in Italy 20 years
ago by a company that was no longer in business, but I was finally
able to get close with a veneer company in Western MA I found on
the net. The checkerboard style of alternating veneers was my design,
and the clients came up with the design for the mantel. |
|

a nice solution for a niche next to a chimney breast. notice the nice little head blocks she

field complete cab, field complete from right, field det 2 curved door:
Sometimes our clients like to have some fun with color. we provided samples and they had all
colors picked within....well...about 3 months!
It's quite a little project building curved doors, but our shop foreman, Aaron, is up to it. |

Gold fir Office desk, Gold fir office files:
Douglas Fir is often overlooked as a cabinet material, since it's usually used as flooring
or exterior decking. in the old kitchens, you sometimes might see it used as beadboard
wainscoting. we like its rich red color and clear straight grain. The desk, which I designed
with a slight bend to it, is an attractive work area. |
|
Gold Window Seat:
We designed a custom window seat i stained oak, and finished it
off with a nice brass register cover for the heat. |
|
Kozel before, Kozel day 1, Kozel stained:

(Kozel day 1) into.....(kozel stained) something completely different!! |
Mahog, Wine, Lights:
For this mahogany cabinet, the clients decided to make a little lighted display. |

Newmanlong, Newman plant, Newman detail:
Cherry is a lovely wood for cabinetry, it seems to have a lustre which few other woods possess.
it shows of plants well, and bottles, books and pictures. notice the unusual way the spaces
in the upper shelves are divided. |

Simm Built in long:
This client was enamored of a style called "shabby chic", which uses lots of frou-frou,
wedding cake, chandeliers, lots of lace, you name it. we liked her color choices too,
she wasn't afraid of much of anything. in the end the whole space was, well, completely
unique! |

Zielinsky desk and Zielinsky cubbies:
We built this cherry desk and work station for a client in marshfield. notice the arch
top raised panels, which we copied from her kitchen cabinets. we even built some cubbies
for her many sets of keys over the water cooler. |
